Discipleship Self-Assessment
God has not given the local church the mandate of policing disciples. However, each disciple of Jesus is called to examine his own ways before God (Lam 3:40, Ez 18:27-28, Ag 1:5-7, Luc 15:17-24, 1 Cor 11:27-31, Gal 6:4, 1 Jn 1:9). We invite each disciple to examine his own ways and seek help from other disciples, in order to neither delude himself nor become spiritually complacent.
We invite each disciple to regularly use the following indicators to examine his ways:
- What have you recently repented from?
- How did I recently long for eternity with God?
- What have recently been high and low moments in my individual prayer life?
- Who trains me as a disciple of Jesus?
- Whom to I train as a disciple of Jesus?
- Which of the people I have discipled are currently making disciples of Jesus?
- To whom have I recently shared part of my journey with Jesus?
- With who have I recently shared part of the Gospel?
- For which of my friends and colleagues have I recently prayed?
- Which of my friends and colleagues have I recently invited to learn more about Jesus?
- Which of my friends and colleagues have I recently invited to share a meal with me?
- Which of my friends and colleagues have I recently blessed (in words, acts of kindness, or gifts)?
- How have I recently helped my children follow Jesus?
- How have I recently care for the heart of my children, parents, and spouse?
- Would my children, parents, and spouse say that I have recently spent quality time with them?
- How have I recently cared for the body God has given me?
